Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Medical ICU experience in a large facility Comfortable with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management Critical thinker who is flexible and works well with others Advanced skills in ventilator management, critical care pharmacology, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line management Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit. The unit has a total of 10 beds with patient ratios of 2:1 in ICU and 4-5:1 in PCU. Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. There are no unit secretaries or patient care technicians available. Lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management, ventilators, and IV pumps are used in the unit. Documentation is performed using a specific electronic system. Shift requirements include 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday support. There are no on-call requirements. Travelers will be required to float. Bedside shift report is mandatory in all areas of the hospital. The relief charge nurse is expected to perform nurse leader rounding. Procedures performed on the unit include assisting providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations. Candidates should possess critical thinking skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. The dress code for this position requires navy blue or white scrubs. Unit-specific policies and guidelines will be provided to the selected candidates.
