Senior GMS Application Software Development Engineer Location: Houston, Texas, United States Job ID: R0133468 Date Posted: 2026-07-07 Job Overview Hitachi Energy seeks a Senior GMS Application Software Development Engineer to design and develop software solutions for GMS applications, enhancing system functionality, performance, and integration capabilities. The role includes configuring applications, developing workflow integrations between SCADA/EMS/GMS and other IT/OT systems, creating and executing test plans, providing training, and coordinating technical issue resolution. The engineer will also support proposals and tendering teams, ensuring compliance with regulations and aligning with Hitachi's core values of safety and integrity. Responsibilities Design and develop software solutions for GMS applications, contributing to system functionality, performance, and integration capabilities. Collaborate with customers' experts to configure applications to meet requirements. Work closely with customers to develop efficient and robust workflow integrations between SCADA/EMS/GMS systems and other IT/OT systems. Leverage state-of-the-art interface and integration technologies. Create and execute test plans and procedures with customers to ensure contractual requirements are met. Provide training to customers on operating GMS functions. Coordinate and efficiently resolve technical problems reported by customers in collaboration with the technical team. Provide expert support to the proposals and tendering team, enabling high quality bids. Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Qualifications Master’s/Ph.D. in Power System Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering stream. 4–10 years of software development, debugging, and performance tuning experience. Proficiency or experience with programming languages including C/C++ and/or FORTRAN. Strong theoretical background in Numerical Analysis Methods, Optimization Techniques, and Power System Modeling and Operation (plus). Experience with optimization toolkits or machine learning/AI packages/tools (plus). Hands‑on experience with Generation Management System Applications: Generation Control, Network Analysis, Operator Training Simulator (desirable). Strong knowledge and experience working with power system modeling and simulation, analysis and operation, optimization, and numerical analysis methodology. Familiarity with analytical tools such as Load Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, AGC, Economic Dispatch and Power Systems Simulators (desirable). Ability to work independently and collaboratively; interact effectively with team members, product management, and customers. Demonstrated experience in Agile development environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, and iterative delivery. Good oral and written communication skills, with ability to present and gather information from peers, product management, project teams, sales, customers, and stakeholders.
