Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Overview The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining construction vehicles and heavy construction and industrial equipment at customer job sites and company locations. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in the field. Responsibilities Repair and replace damaged or worn parts Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols Capable of working in dusty or dirty surroundings Qualifications Must be able to stoop, bend, crouch, and crawl; use hands, arms, and legs fully; grasp, manipulate, and assemble small objects; see and hear well (either naturally or with correction) Lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds High School Diploma or GED 2-3 years relevant experience Valid Driver’s license and good driving record (CDL’s preferred) Must have own tools Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans. #J-18808-Ljbffr Burkes Mechanical Inc
