Speech-Language Pathologist

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a passionate and student-centered highly qualified speech-language pathologist committed to building strong relationships and creating meaningful learning experiences within a supportive school community. The speech-language pathologist will work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech and language communication disorders that interfere with the student's ability to participate in the general education curriculum or educational program.

The speech-language pathologist will champion the district's mission, vision, and collective commitments by placing students and their learning at the center of all decisions. They will create a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment where students feel respected, supported, and motivated to learn. They will build strong relationships with students and establish clear expectations that support a respectful and productive learning environment. They will actively participate in and contribute to professional learning teams (PLT) as part of the school improvement process at the district and school level. They will differentiate instruction through whole group, small group, and individualized supports to meet the diverse needs of all learners. They will monitor student learning through ongoing assessment, maintain accurate records, and communicate student progress to families in a timely and meaningful way. They will actively engage families as partners through consistent, clear, and collaborative communication. They will collaborate with colleagues and support staff to implement the District's MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) framework, including identifying student needs and providing targeted interventions and supports. They will integrate district and building goals into practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. They will use district technology and instructional tools to support teaching, learning, and communication. They will maintain professional growth through ongoing learning, reflection, and participation in district and self-selected professional development, including keeping certification current. They will supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being throughout the school day and during assigned duties. They will serve as a resource to school staff members to improve communication skills for all students. They will assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments. They will evaluate students for speech and language impairments. They will collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy for the student's daily activities. They will serve as a member of the Achievement Team/Educational Planning and Data Dive Team. They will perform differential diagnosis for students with communication disorders. They will implement evidence-based intervention with individual and groups of students in various communicative settings. They will draft, implement, and maintain legally compliant IEP's and complete required documentation for Medicaid billing. They will utilize formative assessment to drive specialized instruction and progress monitor IEP goals and objectives. They will develop and implement augmentative communication systems to support students' access to the curriculum. They will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
