Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Bedford, IN | Short-Term Acute Care

Contract | Nights (3×12-hour shifts, 17:00–05:30) | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on an Adult/Geriatric Medical Surgical Telemetry unit with a staffing ratio of 1:5–6
• Monitor and manage patients presenting with conditions such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CVA, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, small bowel obstruction, altered mental status, and renal failure
• Utilize Cerner for all clinical documentation and charting
• Float within the hospital or to affiliate facilities as required — floating is expected of all travelers
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays per contract requirements
• Wear required unit scrubs: red top and black pants

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Indiana RN license — must be in hand prior to start date; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in Medical Surgical/Telemetry nursing (2 years preferred)
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• All required certifications must be in hand at time of submission
• Travelers university must be accredited by the ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• Indiana residents are not eligible for this position; locals are not accepted for MS/MS Tele roles

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous charge nurse experience
• Clinical experience with thoracentesis, CVA, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, small bowel obstruction, altered mental status, and renal failure
• Familiarity with adult and geriatric patient populations in an acute care setting
