Medical Laboratory Scientist/ Technician

Overview Location: 1700 Rainbow Boulevard, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024, United States Base Pay: $32.50 - $40.00 per hour Job Category: Lab Employee Type: Non-Exempt FT Contact information Phone: View phone number on click.appcast.io Schedule Day or Night Options Days: 11a – 9:30p, 4 days/week Nights: 10p – 7:30a, 4 days/week Responsibilities Obtains blood samples with skill; less than 10% unobtainable specimen rate. Performs venipuncture, heel and finger sticks with minimal trauma to the patient. Completes laboratory test information accurately, recognizes errors, follows up with corrective action, and notifies supervisor or pathologist of difficulties. Does not exceed three error-corrected reports (ECR) annually. Complies with regulations to meet federal, state, and local accrediting agency requirements. Scores a minimum acceptability (80%) on all assigned proficiency testing. Follows rotation schedule for proficiency testing. Scores minimum of 80% or below on less than three proficiency surveys annually. Observes safety rules and universal precautions; uses safety equipment. Supports changes in testing menus and procedures; suggests process improvements. Follows procedures reliably. Uses supplies and equipment cost-effectively. Maintains accurate quality control records. Records all corrective action steps taken in CPSI using canned comments. Performs maintenance as assigned and records issues in the department action log. Recognizes unexpected or abnormal test results and consults with the laboratory supervisor, pathologist, or attending physician before release. Performs charging of laboratory procedures in compliance with the hospital-wide compliance plan and participates in maintaining corporate compliance. Follows assigned department rotation and completes daily tasks in assigned departments; plans workload to meet turnaround times for stat and routine testing. Assists other areas when work is complete. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Position Requirements Currently registered as a MT, MLS, or MLT (ASCP), or registry eligible, with a diploma from an accredited Medical Technology School. 2+ years of experience preferred. Position Summary Performs tasks under the direction of the Pathologist and Laboratory Director. Technologist functions at a technical level with minimal supervision. The technologist will perform a variety of technical procedures to apply laboratory testing for diagnosis. Performs tasks related to the functioning of the laboratory as delegated by the laboratory director or pathologist.
