Job Requirements

Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)

At least 2 years of cardiothoracic or cardiac surgery experience

Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience required

ACLS and BLS certification required

Iowa Physician Assistant license required; candidates who can obtain licensure before the start date may be considered

Availability for the scheduled coverage blocks and on-call commitments

Clean malpractice history and background screening

Recent self-query NPDB report within 30 days

Responsibilities

Provide cardiothoracic and cardiac surgery coverage during clinic and call shifts

Support weekday clinic hours, night call, and weekend on-call coverage

Assist with cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)

Deliver perioperative, pre-operative, and post-operative patient support

Collaborate closely with the surgical team to maintain smooth patient flow and high-quality care

Contribute to a cardiothoracic surgery program that averages approximately 125 coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) cases per year
