Assistant Controller

To build and own the Accounting function at a high-growth SaaS company, the full-time remote Assistant Controller will manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, oversee AR and AP processes, and ensure compliance with GAAP standards while transitioning accounting operations in-house. Key responsibilities Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, directing the relationship with the outsourced accounting firm while transitioning bookkeeping in-house Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and analyze balance sheet and P&L movements, investigating variances before they reach leadership Manage AR and collections processes, including invoicing, payment application, and direct customer follow-up on past-due accounts Required qualifications Prior experience as a Controller, or as a strong Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager in a high-growth Series A SaaS company Experience in building or materially maturing an accounting function from the ground up, including process, controls, and documentation Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription and services revenue Proficiency in using AI tools for accounting workflows and a strong understanding of where automation can enhance efficiency Ability to independently own the close process and communicate effectively with non-finance executives regarding accounting implications
