You'll be part of a mission-driven health system committed to patient safety, quality outcomes, teamwork, and professional growth.Nestled in the scenic Appalachian Mountains, Boone offers the perfect blend of community, culture, and outdoor adventure.What You'll Do as an Imaging RNProvide nursing care to patients in the Imaging Department undergoing diagnostic or invasive procedures.Manage scheduling for IR procedures, including patient assessment, medical record and medication review, and confirming procedure prep is complete.Monitor patients pre-procedure, during procedure (including moderate sedation), and post-procedure.Discharge or transfer patients to inpatient areas, providing the receiving unit with a report before transfer.Perform after-care follow-up for outpatients.Provide back-up technical support for paracentesis/thoracentesis when an ultrasound tech is unavailable.Handle interactions with patients and families in an ethical manner, practicing compassion and respect.Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, colleagues, physicians, leadership, and volunteers.Respond quickly and accurately to emergencies and changes in patient condition.Adhere to UNC Health Appalachian policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior, practicing within the nurse practice act and scope of license.QualificationsEducation: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.Experience: 2 years of general nursing experience required. 1 year of experience in a similar role and scope preferred, including ICU or OR experience with moderate sedation.Licensure/Certifications: Current RN licensure in North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the American Heart Association required within 1 year of hire. Cardiac Surgery Critical Care (CSC) certification through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses [flagged — see note below]. Certification through the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing (ARIN) preferred, after a minimum of 1 year practicing in this role.Skills & Abilities: Strong communication skills; ability to work within the chain of command using positive verbal and non-verbal techniques. Competence in delivering safe, effective patient care within the legal limits of license, certifications, and hospital policy. Knowledge of the continuum of nursing care provided in the department.
