Household Manager — Private Family Residence (live-in accommodation accessible)

We’re looking for an exceptional Household Manager to become a trusted, long-term part of our household.

We are looking for a capable, warm, level-headed adult who takes ownership, follows through, communicates clearly, and genuinely enjoys keeping a busy household running smoothly.

Our home includes a child, multiple animals, a large property, frequent deliveries, vendors, maintenance needs, projects, travel, and all of the normal chaos that comes with family life. The right person will make that chaos feel organized.

The Role

As our Household Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day operation of our home and property.

This is a hands-on management position. Some days may involve coordinating contractors and organizing household inventory. Another day might involve taking a dog to an appointment, returning packages, making sure groceries are stocked, getting a vehicle serviced, or solving whatever random problem a large household decides to produce that day.

You do not need to personally perform every specialized task. A huge part of this job is simply knowing what needs to happen, who needs to do it, and making sure it gets finished correctly.

We value initiative enormously. If you see something that needs attention, we want you to bring it up or handle it rather than walking past it because nobody specifically assigned it to you.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include household operations, organization, errands, pet care coordination, vendor management, property oversight, and family support.

You may be responsible for:

• Managing household schedules, appointments, service visits, deliveries, and maintenance.
• Coordinating and supervising cleaners, landscapers, pool professionals, repair technicians, contractors, and other vendors.
• Maintaining a running list of household repairs, maintenance needs, and upcoming projects.
• Scheduling vehicle maintenance, detailing, inspections, repairs, and transportation logistics.
• Running errands, handling returns, pickups, shipping, and household purchases.
• Keeping household essentials stocked, including groceries, cleaning supplies, toiletries, pet supplies, paper goods, and other frequently used items.
• Helping maintain household organization and ensuring systems continue working after they are created.
• Receiving and managing packages and deliveries.
• Keeping records for warranties, appliances, household equipment, vendors, vehicles, and maintenance.
• Assisting with travel preparation, packing logistics, pet arrangements, and household preparation before and after trips.
• Helping coordinate family schedules as needed.
• Assisting with our child when appropriate, including transportation or logistical support.
• Helping care for and coordinate the needs of our animals, including food, supplies, grooming, veterinary appointments, medications when instructed, boarding, and transportation.
• Keeping an eye on the property and proactively identifying things that need attention.

This is not primarily a nanny position , but because you will live and work in a family home, you must genuinely enjoy being around children and animals and understand the responsibility that comes with both.

Growth Into a Larger Management Role

We are looking for someone long-term, and this position has significant room to grow.

Initially, you will be focused primarily on learning our household, our routines, our standards, our property, and how our family operates.

Once you have demonstrated excellent judgment, discretion, reliability, and trustworthiness, we would eventually like the Household Manager to take responsibility for staffing and personnel management as well.

That may include:

• Helping determine when additional household staff are needed.
• Writing and posting job listings.
• Reviewing applicants.
• Conducting initial interviews.
• Checking references.
• Scheduling candidate interviews with us.
• Helping onboard new household employees.
• Creating schedules and assigning responsibilities.
• Supervising household staff.
• Addressing performance issues.
• Making staffing recommendations to us.

In other words, there is potential for this role to eventually become much closer to a true Estate/Household Operations Manager position.

That authority will be earned through demonstrated trust and good judgment.
