Assistant/Associate Project Scientist - Chiang Lab

Position description The Department of Radiological Sciences at UCLA is recruiting an experienced researcher to join the Chiang Lab as an Assistant or Associate Project Scientist within the Division of Interventional Radiology. The position requires an MD and/or PhD degree and a demonstrated track record conducting research in image‑guided cancer therapies using modalities such as fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT or MRI. The ideal candidate will co‑supervise post‑doctoral fellows and visiting graduate student researchers on the design, execution, and supervision of translational research studies involving interventional oncology, coordinate efforts from investigators and staff across multiple departments, and possess prior experience in basic science of immune metabolism related to image‑guided cancer therapy, image‑guided percutaneous or intravascular therapies, rodent and large animal cancer models, wet lab skills including cell culture and tissue handling, and background experience with cancer epigenetics, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence staining, epigenetic techniques, western blot, and flow cytometry. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, demonstrated experience contributing to grant submissions and publishing manuscripts in high‑impact journals, and a strong interest and commitment to research. Responsibilities Co‑supervise post‑doctoral fellows and visiting graduate student researchers. Design and execute translational research studies in interventional oncology. Coordinate efforts among investigators and staff across multiple departments. Manage research projects and acquire data. Develop and update protocols and best practices. Maintain databases and conduct data analysis. Prepare research manuscripts and grant proposals. Present findings at national and international meetings. Qualifications Basic qualifications MD and/or PhD degree with experience in basic science or translational research. Additional qualifications Evidence of related prior publications. Highly motivated and independent. Ability to prioritize work and be well organized. Team‑leading skills. Effective problem‑solving skills.
