Quality Control Inspector

Summary The Quality Control Inspector assures products meet the company’s quality standards, while assisting operations in developing and enforcing good manufacturing processes and procedures. They inspect and test trucks from work in progress to the finished product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspects in-process production of vacuum trucks by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor. Inspects finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual tests; returning products for re‑work; confirming re‑work. Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re‑work and waste; inputting data into quality database. Monitors production areas, and checks that all manufactured products or parts meet the necessary production standards. Compares product with bill of materials and sales release to ensure completion of assembly. Interprets engineering drawings/diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards. Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process and tests for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics. Operates any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job. Assists test bay manager with the testing of trucks and is backup when test bay manager is on vacation. Assists production with diagnosing issues on trucks. Suggests design and location changes that improve function of the truck.

Proven experience in conducting quality inspections. Strategic thinker and strong analytical skills. Ability to influence and motivate others. Good eye for detail. Analyze problems, detect root causes, and resolve all issues. Excellent time management, planning, organization, and prioritization skills. Self‑motivator with solid interpersonal skills, achievement oriented. Be aware of Health and Safety standards and their implication in the workplace.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

TRAVEL

This position does not travel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience. Experience building custom trucks is preferred, but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

This position requires a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, crawl, stoop and reach and feel with hands and arms and will occasionally use a ladder or stepstool. The employee is required to see to inspect the details of each assembled truck. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to operate the telephone, the computer and assemble information; must be able to clearly communicate with others either verbally or via written communication. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and might occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
