Quality Inspector

Job Title: Quality Inspector Job Description
The Quality Inspector performs precise first-piece, in-coming, and in-process inspections to ensure products meet established quality standards and ISO 9001 requirements. This role supports production teams, helps less experienced inspectors, and contributes to continuous improvement by tracking defects and participating in corrective actions.
Responsibilities

• Perform all first-piece inspections as required to verify that initial production parts meet specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct in-coming inspections on materials and components to ensure they conform to documented requirements before use in production.
• Carry out in-process inspections as directed to monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Support and follow all quality procedures in alignment with ISO 9001 and the organization's quality management system.
• Assist production personnel and less experienced inspectors with in-process inspections and proper use of measuring equipment.
• Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other standard bench measuring equipment to perform accurate measurements.
• Interpret blueprints and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to verify part compliance.
• Track and record defect data accurately to support quality reporting and trend analysis.
• Participate in corrective action activities by providing inspection data, feedback, and support for problem-solving efforts.
• Maintain organized and accurate inspection records in accordance with quality system requirements.
• Ensure inspection equipment is handled properly and report any issues with measuring tools or gauges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3 years of quality inspection experience.
• Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and standard bench measuring equipment.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret engineering blueprints.
• Working knowledge of inspections and quality control methods in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
• Ability to accurately measure, document, and evaluate parts against specifications.
• Attention to detail and strong observational skills for identifying defects and nonconformances.
• Ability to follow established procedures and quality standards consistently.
• Effective communication skills to support production teams and less experienced inspectors.
• Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to corrective action activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent technical training is preferred.
• Preferred certifications in ASQ (such as Certified Quality Inspector or related credentials).
• Preferred ISO 9001 certification or formal training in ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Preferred experience or certification in project management.
• Preferred training or certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience working in a structured quality system environment.
• Comfort working with data and defect tracking tools or systems.

Work Environment
This position operates on a 2nd shift schedule, typically from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., providing an opportunity to work outside standard daytime hours. The role is based in a production and inspection environment where precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges is used regularly. Team members work within an ISO 9001-compliant quality system, collaborating closely with production and quality personnel in a structured, process-driven setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Roseville, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
