School Based Therapist

Essential Functions Respond promptly to crisis situations, document critical incidents, and be available to clients as needed. Provide at least 60 hours of in‑home therapy per calendar month or as determined by contract needs. Facilitate an initial meeting with the client and referral source within the required time frames. Engage and work in partnership with the client to complete the initial comprehensive assessment, including a mental status exam, and resulting diagnosis based on the most recent DSM. Develop treatment plan goals and objectives with the client. Provide individual, family and/or group counseling as appropriate. Serve as a client advocate and liaison with community services. Monitor client progress and update treatment plans based on established tools. Maintain accurate client case records in the electronic medical record. Complete discharge summaries and after‑care contacts per agency policy. Provide written and verbal progress reports to referring entities within required time frames. Work cooperatively with other program staff to ensure seamless services. Participate in regular clinical supervision. Travel to home‑based therapy locations as necessary. Employees must be able to drive to DCCCA and other business locations throughout the day, including early morning or evening hours. Make decisions based on supervisor guidelines, program standard procedures, evidence‑based practice model, and DCCCA policies. Meet DCF timelines: connect with the family within 24 hours of referral; facilitate initial family meeting within 48 hours; complete assessment‑based case plan within 20 days; close the case within 4‑6 weeks. Complete and analyze initial and ongoing family assessments related to safety, stability, and well‑being (mental health, substance abuse, education, emotional, social, physical, parenting, parent‑child relationships). Utilize assessments to develop the case plan in partnership with child/ren and family; make community referrals as necessary. Build therapeutic relationships for conflictual relationships, including domestic violence, parent‑child conflicts, crisis intervention, and stabilization. Provide education and intervention related to sexual abuse, domestic violence, and substance‑abuse prevention. Assess child safety and risk, initially and ongoing, and assist the family in developing a behavior‑specific safety plan and monitoring child safety. Meet with the family in the home at least two to three times per week. Meet monthly with each child individually. Be available to assigned families 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to mitigate immediate child safety concerns, stabilize family crisis, and assess family needs. Document case information, including court reports, e‑mails, and weekly activities. Submit timely court reports. Appear and testify in court as required. Promote teamwork in all activities. Foster and maintain professional relationships with families, community partners, and peers. Complete evidence‑based practice activities as appropriate. Education, Experience, and Licensure A Master’s degree in human services or a related field is required. Requires two years of child welfare and/or family services experience. Requires licensure by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board at the master’s level; clinical licensure is preferred. Must possess a valid state driver’s license, in‑force automobile liability insurance, and maintain an MVR that meets DCCCA insurability standards. Reliable transportation is required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effective listening, oral, and written communication skills, including face‑to‑face, on‑site, in‑person discussions. Demonstrate positive language. Regular and predictable on‑site attendance. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to operate office equipment (telephones, voicemail, copy, fax, scanners). Reach with hands and arms. Use hands to touch, handle, or feel. Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Move or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work at a computer for extended periods, sitting or standing. Operate successfully in an environment with emotionally stressful topics such as substance use disorder, mental health conditions, domestic abuse, etc. Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Travel This position requires travel, which may include driving personal or company‑owned vehicles. It may also include driving with other passengers in the vehicle, and/or driving as a passenger with other drivers. Note: Even with a valid driver’s license, certain motor vehicle infractions may render an individual's eligibility to drive company‑owned or personal vehicles for company business ineligible. Such infractions may also disqualify employees from continued employment with DCCCA, Inc. This position is considered a safety‑sensitive position.
