Tech - Sterile Processing Tech

Job Summary:
Performs essential functions in decontamination, sterilization, assembly, packaging, and distribution of surgical instruments to ensure patient safety and compliance with infection control standards. Supports operational efficiency within the Central Sterile Processing department.
Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, inspect, and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and gas plasma systems.
- Document sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with OR staff to provide sterile instruments promptly for surgical procedures.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED.
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in Sterile Processing or related hospital support services.
- Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) or Registered Central Service Tech (RCST) certification required within 1 year of employment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Excel.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail, communication skills, and physical ability to handle heavy surgical trays.
