Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L/D)

An exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery (L/D) is available. This position involves providing excellent patient care and support in the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum departments, with potential overflow into Med/Surg as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer care to patients in the Labor & Delivery unit.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal conditions throughout labor.
• Assist with and circulate in cesarean sections as necessary.
• Provide postpartum care for mothers and newborns.
• Respond to patient needs and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate patient records using the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery nursing.
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), perinatal fetal monitoring (completed within the last 2 years), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Registered Nurse (RN) with a relevant nursing degree.
• Experience circulating in the operating room for L/D is preferred.

Unit Information

• Labor & Delivery has 6 beds plus 1 triage/ret recovery room.
• Postpartum unit consists of 12 beds.
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN standards for Labor & Delivery.
• Typical patient load in Postpartum is usually 3-4 patients per nurse, with a maximum of 6:1.

Work Schedule

This role requires working night shifts in Labor & Delivery and day shifts in the Postpartum unit with rotating weekend duties.

• Personal scrubs may be worn in the Postpartum and GYN areas, as long as they adhere to professional standards.
