Wire Assembler

Job Title: Assembler Job Description The Assembler role focuses on building, wiring, and preparing mechanical and electrical components according to detailed blueprints, assembly instructions, and parts lists. You will work with hand tools, power tools, and custom-built equipment to assemble, test, and prepare wire products and related assemblies for shipment in a fast‑paced production environment. Responsibilities Prepare work to be completed by reviewing assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, and by gathering required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. Position parts and subassemblies accurately by using templates and reading measurements to ensure proper alignment and fit. Tighten and fasten prefabricated electrical or electronic parts and install components, units, subassemblies, raceways, wiring, and assembly casings using rivets, bolts, screws, clamps, and similar hardware. Prepare wire by identifying and separating wire by color, trimming, clipping, and tinning wires and leads, wiring according to predetermined specifications, and connecting wire to pre‑connected wiring devices. Package prepared wire into kits according to specifications and order requirements. Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies. Drill and tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for elements, wiring, or instruments. Measure, cut, and glue PVC pipe to specified dimensions and tolerances. Use a square bit power drill to construct tables used for storage and production support. Pack wires onto carts for palletizing and palletize different length wires into bags, completing and initialing quality control sheets to confirm orders are fulfilled correctly. Spool wires to specified lengths using a custom‑built machine, apply labels, cut wires, and secure both ends of the wire with zip ties. Store spooled wires on carts and move them to the appropriate area of the department, maintaining awareness of the number of wires spooled each hour. Use electronic testing devices to check the electric current of wires and verify proper functionality. Apply specific color tape to wires according to identification or specification requirements. Use a polypropylene strapping kit, including tensioner, crimper, metal strapping seals, and cart, to secure bags to pallets for shipment. Use sandpaper on thicker wire lengths (approximately 100–200 feet), clean residue with alcohol, and use a heat gun and custom measuring tool to glue rings onto wire. Follow all safety measures, including unplugging the heat gun after use and storing it properly in a custom‑built holster underneath the worktable. Participate in cross‑training as needed to support various tasks and processes within the department. Essential Skills Proven experience with mechanical or electrical assembly in a production or warehouse environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly instructions, and parts lists. Proficiency using hand tools such as screwdrivers, clamps, crimpers, and cutting tools. Proficiency using power tools, including drills and custom‑built production equipment. Hands‑on experience with wiring tasks, including identifying wire by color, trimming, clipping, tinning, and connecting wires to devices. Ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks such as drilling, tapping, fastening, and fitting components and subassemblies. Comfort working with wiring processes such as splicing, crimping, and attaching terminals or rings. Capability to use measurement tools and follow precise measurements for cutting wire, PVC pipe, and other materials. Ability to use electronic testing devices to verify electric current and basic functionality of wires. Strong attention to detail to ensure correct parts, lengths, colors, and labels are used and quality control documentation is accurate. Commitment to following safety procedures, particularly when using heat guns, power tools, and strapping equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with mechanical systems and components in a production setting. Experience working from blueprints or technical drawings in manufacturing or assembly. Prior experience working with PVC pipe, including measuring, cutting, and gluing. Experience using polypropylene strapping kits, including tensioners, crimpers, and metal seals. Ability to work efficiently in a high‑volume environment and track output such as wires spooled per hour. Willingness to cross‑train and support multiple tasks within the department. Strong organizational skills for staging, storing, and moving materials and finished products. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a non‑temperature‑controlled warehouse environment, where you work on your feet for 8–10 hour shifts. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided in accordance with safety guidelines. You regularly use hand tools, power tools such as drills and heat guns, electronic testing devices, custom‑built spooling and measuring machines, and polypropylene strapping equipment. Work areas include assembly tables, storage and palletizing zones, and wire preparation stations, all organized to support efficient production and safe material handling. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
