Position Summary: 

 

The Sr. Manager, Marketplace & Emerging Commerce is responsible for developing and executing the company's marketplace and emerging commerce channel strategy to drive revenue growth, expand customer acquisition, and increase brand visibility across third-party eCommerce platforms. This role owns the performance, optimization, and strategic roadmap for established marketplaces such as Amazon, while leading the launch and expansion of future growth channels including Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop, and other emerging digital commerce platforms.

This individual will serve as the subject matter expert for marketplace commerce, partnering closely with Digital Marketing, eCommerce, Product Management, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, and external marketplace partners to identify new opportunities, optimize customer experience, and maximize channel profitability. The role requires a balance of strategic planning, operational execution, performance analytics, and cross-functional leadership to ensure long-term marketplace success.

Key Responsibilities: 

Marketplace Strategy & Growth

• Develop and execute the overall marketplace strategy across Amazon and emerging commerce platforms to drive profitable revenue growth.
• Lead expansion into new marketplace opportunities including Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop, and other relevant B2B and B2C commerce channels.
• Evaluate new marketplace opportunities, develop business cases, and lead implementation plans for future channel expansion.
• Establish annual channel growth strategies, performance targets, and investment recommendations.
• Monitor marketplace trends, competitive activity, consumer behavior, and platform innovations to identify new growth opportunities.
• Partner with Performance Marketing to develop channel-specific acquisition strategies and maximize marketplace traffic and conversion.
• Collaborate with Finance to develop marketplace revenue forecasts, investment plans, and profitability targets.
• Own the overall health, performance, and strategic direction of the company's Amazon Seller and Vendor Central accounts. 

• Develop strategies to maximize product visibility, conversion rates, Buy Box performance, organic search rankings, and overall channel growth. 
• Optimize product listings through keyword research, enhanced content, imagery, and merchandising best practices. 
• Partner with Performance Marketing to optimize Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, and other Amazon advertising programs. 
• Ensure compliance with Amazon policies while proactively managing account health, product suppression issues, and operational performance.
• Serve as the primary business owner and strategic relationship manager with Amazon and marketplace partners.

Emerging Channel Development

• Build launch plans and operational processes for new marketplace channels including Walmart Marketplace and TikTok Shop.
• Partner with IT, eCommerce, Product Management, Content Info Systems, and Operations teams to implement product content, inventory integration, order management, and fulfillment capabilities.
• Develop merchandising, promotional, and content strategies tailored to each marketplace's unique customer experience. 
• Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure performance across all emerging commerce channels.

Channel Product Strategy

• Develop and own the product assortment strategy across all marketplace and emerging commerce channels, ensuring each platform offers a differentiated and profitable customer experience.
• Partner with Product Management to establish a shared product roadmap that aligns marketplace offerings with broader business objectives while avoiding unnecessary channel conflict with direct eCommerce and distributor channels.
• Identify opportunities to uniquely position products, bundles, packaging, and assortments for each marketplace based on customer behavior, competitive landscape, and platform-specific merchandising capabilities.
• Evaluate opportunities for exclusive SKUs, marketplace-only assortments, value packs, kits, and private label offerings to increase competitiveness, improve margins, and expand customer reach.
• Analyze product performance, customer demand, pricing, and competitive assortment to make data-driven recommendations for product expansion, rationalization, and lifecycle management.
• Develop marketplace pricing and assortment strategies that complement the company's direct ecommerce strategy while maximizing total business growth.

Inventory & Operations

• Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to optimize inventory planning and product availability across marketplace channels. 
• Develop inventory strategies that minimize stockouts while maximizing sales and operational efficiency. 
• Collaborate with Customer Service to improve customer experience, seller ratings, and marketplace performance metrics. 
• Ensure operational readiness for new marketplace launches and ongoing channel scalability.
• Partner with IT and Operations to identify automation opportunities that improve marketplace efficiency, scalability, and operational performance.

Performance & Analytics

• Monitor channel performance through key metrics including revenue, profitability, ROAS, conversion rate, traffic, customer acquisition, inventory health, and customer satisfaction. 
• Develop executive dashboards and regular business reviews highlighting marketplace performance, growth opportunities, and strategic recommendations. 
• Analyze assortment performance and identify opportunities for assortment expansion, pricing optimization, and promotional effectiveness. 
• Leverage marketplace data and competitive insights to drive continuous optimization.

Education: 

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, eCommerce, Digital Commerce, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience: 

• 7+ years of experience in eCommerce, digital commerce, marketplace management, or related commercial roles.
• 3+ years of direct experience managing Amazon Seller Central and/or Vendor Central.
• Experience launching or managing additional marketplace channels such as Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop, eBay, or similar ecommerce platforms preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including experience leading, developing, and motivating high-performing teams.

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Demonstrated success developing and growing marketplace businesses with measurable revenue and profitability results.
• Deep understanding of Amazon Seller/Vendor Central, marketplace algorithms, SEO, merchandising, advertising, and operational best practices.
• Strong knowledge of eCommerce marketplace ecosystems and emerging digital commerce trends.
• Experience developing marketplace launch strategies and scaling new digital sales channels.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex performance data and translate insights into business actions.
• Experience with marketplace analytics, reporting tools, and ecommerce performance measurement.
• Knowledge of digital advertising platforms including Amazon Ads; experience with Walmart Connect or TikTok advertising is a plus.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across Marketing, IT, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Product teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting recommendations to leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing with strong attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving ecommerce environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing business needs while meeting deadlines.

• Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.
