About the Position

Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must pass a skills exam during orientation. Refusal to comply with the fingernail policy will result in termination of contract. Candidates are required to have a valid driver's license. Description: The ICU is staffed with a charge nurse who takes an assignment. There are nurse aids and patient care techs available to assist with patient care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2, with adjustments based on patient needs. RNs are expected to titrate various drips and manage a range of common diagnoses. RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips. Critical care coverage is provided 24/7 by trained professionals. The facility operates with a set scheduling system managed by a unit scheduler. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, and holiday requirements vary. RNs may float to other units as necessary based on patient care needs. Scrub color is navy blue. All requests for time off must be submitted upfront, and additional requests may not be approved. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as needed during the assignment. The charting system utilized in this unit is EPIC.
