GPU/CPU Systems Engineer

Salary: $135,200 - 306,400 per year Requirements:

• Hands-on experience developing, testing, and characterizing leading GPU or other AI hardware platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AI/GPU and/or AI/CPU platform architectures and capabilities.
• Ability to balance hardware performance with power, cost, regulatory specifications, and cross-functional needs.
• Experience using BMC firmware, UEFI/BIOS, Linux diagnostics, and scripting to customize tests.
• Practical experience with GPU supplier test code and open-source AI testing and characterization tools.
• Experience designing and implementing modern multi-vendor server platforms, including x86 and ARM architectures.
• Hardware development experience at system, board, and FPGA levels.
• Proficiency with board-level tools and reviewing hierarchical schematics, advanced multilayer board layouts, cross-board interconnects, and end-to-end connectivity.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues across engineering disciplines and to executives.
• Demonstrated ability to debug and identify root causes of complex hardware and software issues, isolate faults, and develop robust solutions.
• Experience with early-stage bring-up and power-on, platform firmware debugging, and GPU, CPU, and memory complex debugging.
• Familiarity with high-speed buses and interconnects used in modern compute and AI platforms, including startup connectivity and operational reliability.
• Preferred: 10 years of hardware design and bring-up experience, including use of hardware debuggers.
• Preferred: Experience with PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, USB, SPI, or related technologies.
• Preferred: Experience with platform security technologies, power circuit design, or signal integrity.

• Help define, develop, integrate, debug, characterize, and tune existing and new cloud AI platforms.
• Evaluate AI platform architectures, assess implementation approaches, and contribute to platform scaling and optimization.
• Review third-party merchant silicon for AI accelerator modules and oversee platform development by partners.
• Work with in-house engineering specialists on designs and reviews, and guide system integration, performance testing, and characterization.
• Collaborate with program managers on technical assessments and planning.
• Coordinate with GPU suppliers, external partners, hardware and software engineering, quality assurance, cloud orchestration, security, and manufacturing teams.
• Document design intent and specifications in collaboration with relevant engineering teams, and participate in hardware platform security evaluations.
• Guide internal and partner teams on scaling, monitoring, and deploying products in the cloud; support operational health visibility and platform use.
• Lead day-to-day AI platform development with internal teams and third-party design partners, including reviews of design plans, schematics, board layouts, test features, and system validation plans.
• Oversee system integration, testing, and qualification; define software diagnostics; use approved supplier and open-source qualification tools; and develop characterization, performance testing, monitoring, and error-reporting capabilities.
• Support new product introduction through production in collaboration with developers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams.
• Advise Oracle hardware, software, cloud, and support teams, providing advanced technical guidance for complex issues affecting deployed products.
• Investigate potential hardware and software defects through lab replication, remote debugging, and coordination with relevant teams.
• Help ensure hardware is secure, robustly evaluated, high-performing, and qualified for deployment to cloud customers.
