Physical Therapy Assistant

Provide direct and indirect patient care in specific treatment, support, and maintenance of rehabilitation services programs Provide educational support to students Assist the rehabilitation therapist with assessment and supervision of students and volunteers Assist with administrative and clerical functions within the rehabilitation services department Requirements License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of New York Associate degree from an approved physical therapist assistant program As a condition of continued employment, must obtain and maintain New York State licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant within six months of appointment Degree must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards Ability to monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, symptoms, and patient responses to exercise safely and effectively Strong patient education skills related to exercise, breathing techniques, energy conservation, and healthy lifestyle behaviors Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members Ability to work collaboratively with physical therapists, nurses, and physicians Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in providing patient care and education as a Physical Therapist Assistant, with a strong focus on collaboration with healthcare professionals and effective communication with patients and families.
