Financial Controller

The Financial Controller is responsible for the overall accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Company’s financial reporting. This role owns and continuously improves the month-end close process, leads comprehensive financial and operational variance analysis, and ensures full audit readiness across all financial functions.The Controller will maintain robust internal controls, oversee multi-entity accounting operations, and ensure compliance with GAAP and multi-state regulatory requirements. This individual is highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and capable of leading teams in a fast-paced, multi-location distribution environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOwn and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timelinessPrepare and review consolidated and subsidiary financial statements in accordance with GAAPEnsure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly with proper supporting documentationReview and approve journal entries and accruals to ensure accuracy and completenessMaintain and enforce close calendars, deliverables, and accountability across the accounting teamIdentify and resolve close process bottlenecks, driving efficiency and consistencyPreforms detailed monthly and quarterly variance analysis (actual vs. budget, forecast, prior period, and prior year.)Identify root causes of financial and operational variances, including pricing, volume, cost drivers, and process inefficienciesDevelop clear, concise, and actionable financial narratives for leadershipPrepare and deliver financial reporting packages, including KPIs and dashboardsLead the planning, preparation and coordination of annual external audits serving as the primary liaison with the auditorsEnsure audit readiness through accurate documentation, reconciliations, and internal controlsOversee compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and multi-state regulatory requirementsSupport tax filings including income, sales & use, and property taxesMonitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, implementing updates as necessaryOversee day-to-day operations of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functionsEnsure accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions and account classificationsMaintain and optimize the Company’s chart of accounts and financial reporting hierarchyMonitor and enforce accounting policies and procedures across all locationsMonitor working capital metrics, including AR aging, AP cycles, and inventory related financial impactsEstablish and maintain strong internal controls over financial reportingConduct periodic reviews of control effectiveness, identifying gaps and implementing corrective actionEnsure standardization of accounting practices and documentation across multiple entities and locationsManage and develop accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable staffEstablish clear performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability measuresProvide ongoing coaching, feedback, and formal performance evaluationsFoster a culture of accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and collaborationEnsure accuracy, completeness and alignment between ERP systems and financial reporting (including Computers Unlimited TIMS)Partner with IT and leadership to implement system enhancements, automation, and reporting improvements.Participate in ERP upgrades, integrations, and system implementations.Assist the CFO with budgeting and forecasting processesSupport treasury and cash management activities as neededParticipate in special projects, including system implementations and acquisitionsPerform other duties as assigned based on business needs and organizational growthStrong knowledge of GAAP financial reporting and internal controlsExceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and completenessAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in financial and operational variance analysisAbility to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational and process management capabilitiesEffective communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial resultsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systemsEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance requiredCPA or CPA track strongly preferred7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility3–5+ years in a leadership or supervisory roleExperience in distribution, manufacturing, or industrial environments strongly preferredExperience in multi-entity and multi-state operations is a plusPhysical RequirementsRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hearUse of hands for computer and office functionsOccasionally lift and/or move up to 25 poundsBenefits401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programEmployee discountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid Time Off (PTO)Parental leaveReferral programRetirement planVision insurance #J-18808-Ljbffr
