Program Associate

Position Summary The Program Associate engages internally and externally to support prospective and current grantees in the Foundation’s grantmaking process. Under the supervision of a Senior Program Officer, this role gathers information aligned to Foundation priorities, then creates, and edits written deliverables and presentations as assigned. This role also supports emergency grant requests and other Foundation initiatives. The role is exposed to multiple program areas and aspects of grantmaking as part of supporting the program team and as assigned by the position’s supervisor. Principal Accountabilities Grant Applications Work closely with Program Team and as assigned by Senior Program Officer to review, research, and evaluate grant requests Interact with grantees and prospective grantees to provide critical guidance in the application and review process Develop in-house reports, write-ups, and presentations in collaboration with other program and administrative staff Manage a small portfolio of grants as assigned Program Planning and Support Research opportunities and best practices that align with the Foundation’s statewide grantmaking strategies and initiatives Work closely with the program team to collaborate with other foundations on grantmaking strategies as a representative of the Foundation Maintain a basic knowledge of current trends among all Foundation program areas and state-level emergencies as they occur Support team building and growth opportunities to enhance grantmaking practices and effectiveness Lead special projects and assignments as applicable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in a related field or related experience (preferred) Experience in a grantmaking role (preferred) Basic understanding of health, education, human services and environmental issues and disparities within Texas Basic understanding of systems change work Ability to prioritize overlapping projects to complete work in a timely and fiscally responsible manner Ability to be flexible and work under the pressure of short deadlines and shifting priorities Ability to identify, analyze, and summarize complex information for internal and external audiences Ability to work independently and on a team Life-long learner with the ability to acquire new skills from on-the-job training Ability to maintain confidentiality, diplomacy, and discretion Asset based mindset that enjoys problem solving Strong presentation skills Excellent attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Intermediate Microsoft Office experience Environmental Demands Stand, walk, bend (occasionally) Sit for prolonged periods at a desk (often) Use motor coordination and finger dexterity to type (often) Benefits Paid holidays, vacation, personal days, sick days, and parental leave Medical, Dental and Vision insurance HRA and FSA Paid Life&ADD and Long-Term Disability insurance Employee and caregiver support programs 403(b) retirement savings plan and quarterly Foundation 401(a) contributions Matching grants for your donations to eligible nonprofits Equal Opportunity Statement The Meadows Foundation is committed to recruiting, hiring, retaining, and promoting skilled employees.
