This position will be In-Office Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.Primary FunctionThe Machinist II independently sets up and operates CNC machinery according to blueprint specifications with minimal supervision. This role requires specific experience with lathe work, including Haas ST-20, and 5-axis machining experience, specifically on a Kitamura machining center.Essential Job Functions - ResponsibilitiesIndependently repairs and fabricates parts by operating mechanical equipmentSets up, operates, and monitors CNC machine output with minimal supervisionMakes mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts meet quality requirementsInterprets complex blueprints and basic GD&T symbols to ensure proper dimensions and tolerancesAnalyzes engineering drawings, blueprints, models, and design data to machine parts to specificationOwns full setups with minimal supervisionSets up and operates Haas ST-20 lathe, Haas mills, Kitamura 5-axis machining center with minimal supervisionTakes precise measurements and selects appropriate machines for processesUses precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, fixtures, and gaugesAccurately measures dimensions within print toleranceMakes minor G&M code edits (offsets, tooling, macros)Identifies and resolves common machining issues independentlyFollows all safe work practices & safety rulesMentors entry-level machinists in machine operation and basic techniquesCommunicates setup and troubleshooting information effectivelySuggests improvements to processes and productivityCarries out other duties as required by the Model Shop ManagerFollow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)Requires minimal supervision for standard operationsHas gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to CNC machiningWorks independently within established proceduresExperience with Haas and Arumatik-Mi controlsBuilding confidence and technical breadth in machining disciplineUnderstanding of basic GD&T symbols and their applicationStrong written and verbal English language communication skillsExcellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectivelyDemonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core ValuesPass a post-offer background verificationWork Environment: Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions.
