MKSA/KULA provides Early Intervention Day Treatment services to children with developmental delays, disabilities, and medical needs. We typically care for children from birth through kindergarten and may expand our services to include elementary-aged children during the summer.

Our collaborative team includes nurses, teachers, teaching assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, and other professionals. Together, we partner with families to provide individualized, patient-centered care that supports each child's health, growth, and development.

Position Purpose

The LPN provides compassionate and attentive nursing care to infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents. This position also serves as a trusted medical resource for staff and helps ensure each child's healthcare needs are safely and appropriately addressed.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with the Medical Director and other healthcare professionals regarding patients' medical needs

• Communicate significant medical information to physicians, the Medical Director, parents, and appropriate team members

• Assess children who need medical attention and respond appropriately

• Gather and review medical information for newly enrolled patients

• Communicate relevant medical needs to therapists, teachers, and treatment-room staff

• Maintain accurate and organized medication records for each patient

• Coordinate with parents, physicians, and pharmacies to obtain prescription information

• Maintain current immunization and allergy records and communicate updates to appropriate staff

• Ensure each patient is evaluated and assessed by the Medical Director as required

• Coordinate referrals to outside specialists and other healthcare professionals

• Obtain discharge summaries following patient hospitalizations

• Review medical records and distribute relevant information to appropriate personnel

• Interpret clinical information to identify actual and potential health risks

• Ensure medical documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements

• Train and support staff regarding accident and incident procedures and documentation

• Complete and document required reports involving suspected abuse or neglect

• Maintain first-aid kits, oxygen tanks, and other medical supplies

• Monitor and document refrigerator temperatures for stored medications

• Administer flu vaccinations and TB skin tests as indicated and permitted

• Coordinate CPR training and maintain employee CPR certification records

• Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable medical resource for staff

• Participate in approved continuing education to maintain professional licensure

• Assist with community outreach, marketing, or patient recruitment when needed

Qualifications

Education and Licensure

• Current and unrestricted Arkansas LPN license

Experience

• One year of experience in a similar role is preferred

• New nurses with the right combination of education, clinical preparation, motivation, and dedication are encouraged to apply

• Pediatric experience is a plus but is not required
