Job Description This is an ideal position for an entry level candidate with 1-3 years experience. This will give the candidate the practical experience to further their safety career. Reporting to the Plant Safety supervisor, facilitate and assist in the identification, evaluation and control of safety and environmental risks at the location. Provide, assist and/or facilitate skills building and training of both leadership and plant employees. Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies.
- Help facilitate and execute skills building programs as required.
- Coordinate, interpret and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws/regulations. Have a working knowledge of laws/regulations and implementation/impact at a plant setting.
- Assist with conducting industrial hygiene monitoring for the facility.
- Assist in auditing/inspecting, measuring and developing action plans regarding Health and Safety plant status and progress.
- Follow all safety, environmental rules and regulations.
- Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
- Serve as an active member of the plant’s Safety Committee.
- Reviewing new/modified equipment/processes for Health and Safety purposes as needed.
- Attend daily production/quality meetings.
- Develop and maintain safety and environmental policies for the plant.
- Attend scheduled safety and GMP meetings.
- New hire training and orientation.
- Investigate safety related incidents.
- Provide weekly tool box training topics.
- Provide safety training to contractors.
- Conduct/administer monthly safety training.
- Complete all associated paperwork/reports.
- Packaging Superintendent assumes responsibilities in his/her absence.
- Problem solving to enable the development and execution of cost effective solutions to minimize/eliminate risk.
- Creativity to enable the use of tools, resources, programs, processes and solutions as required.
- Presentation skills to enable effective training and communication to all levels of the organization.
- Written and oral communication skills to enable the use of multiple communication media (workbooks, presentations, reports, etc.) as needed.
- Change management skills are important to drive and sustain improvement in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
