About the Role The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations. The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and serological protein electrophoresis (SPE). Manage donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and donor transport to emergency care. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for findings or medical/technical guidance. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER as required. Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats. Provide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support at the center level. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate‑equivalent recognized nursing program with state requirements. Current state license or certification (e.g., EMT‑Paramedic). Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy. Complete FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of clinical or hospital experience. The hourly wage range is $22.80 – $31.35, depending on qualifications, experience, and location. Additional incentives may be available for U.S. employees.
