The Speech–Language Pathologist supports the overall mission and purpose of The Warren Center by effectively evaluating and treating communication, feeding, and atypical development needs of children enrolled in The Warren Center’s Early Childhood Intervention program.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Speech Therapy Services
- Assess the need for communication, feeding, and atypical development services.
- Plan, implement, and revise appropriate communication, feeding, or atypical development plans for children and families.
- Provide services directly to children and families or as a consultant to other service providers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply the coaching model approach, with strong collaborative documentation skills to support family-centered practices.
- Document all services, activities, and consultations within areas of training and expertise.
Service Coordination
- Collaborate with families in a non-judgmental, healthy, helpful relationship
- Complete Individual Service Plans that focus on regular routines within the context of the family’s life that enhance each child's development
- Document all service coordination activities
- Connect families with appropriate resources and support services within agency and the broader community
- Coordinate and collaborate care between professionals
Transdisciplinary
- Collaborate in joint program planning through mutual team support
- Initiative in sharing knowledge and generating ideas with team members to support continuous program improvement.
- Supervise student interns or volunteers as appropriate
Professional Development
- Demonstrate professional conduct and ethical practice at all times
- Endorse The Warren Center philosophy of service delivery, policies, and procedures
- Participate in continuing education and impart knowledge gained to other staff
- Serve as a resource for agency and community as opportunities arise.
- Actively engage in problem solving to support self, team, and organizational goals
Education and Experience
Education
- Required: Minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Speech/Language Pathology
- Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence once a fully licensed Speech–Language Pathologist
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: Licensed or in process of applying for such licensure as required by state board or committee
- Required: Adult, Child, Infant First Aid, CPR and AED certification
Experience
- Required: Employment or practicum experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and/or their families

- Organizational skills and ability to independently meet the demands of a large caseload, such as scheduling, documenting, meeting timelines.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening visits if warranted.
- Skills in conflict management, negotiation and resolution, teamwork, and ability to work amid distractions.
- Ability to travel independently to and from client homes.

- Moderate to heavy physical exertion, including pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds

- Ability to create methodologies and strategies to accomplish goals.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data, develop plans, strategies, and outcomes based on data analysis.
- Ability to use common office equipment.
- Knowledge and use of computer technology applications utilized by The Warren Center.
- Work is performed in an office shared by several people, therapeutic playroom, child-care setting or client home.
- Work includes driving to and from many settings
