LOCATION: Transportation
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Supervisor of
WORK SCHEDULE: 12-M - 260 Days - 8 Hrs.
TRANSPORTATION OR SHOP FOReman PAY GRADE: 215
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
1. High School Diploma or its equivalent as certified by the State Department of Education and the local school board.
2. 3 years of experience as an automotive mechanic
3. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
4. Knowledge of shop tools and repair operation on buses and automobiles
5. A physical examination administered by a licensed physician. Tests for TB and other communicable diseases acceptable
6. A valid Virginia's Driver's License including school buses
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To keep the school district's buses and automobiles in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Performs duties as assigned in repairing and servicing district buses and automobiles.
- Assist in maintaining a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all working related areas.
- Substitute bus driver in an emergency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
