Job Responsibilities

• Sterile Field Maintenance: Prepare, arrange, and manage sterile fields with the specific instrumentation, drapes, and supplies required for scheduled cases according to surgeon preference cards.

• Intraoperative Assistance: Anticipate surgical team requirements, safely and efficiently passing instruments, sponges, and sutures while strict aseptic standards are enforced.

• Safety Counts: Conduct meticulous instrument, sharp, and sponge counts with the circulating nurse prior to initial incision, during the procedure, and before wound closure.

• Post-Op Demobilization: Securely handle and identify tissue specimens for pathology verification; assist with dressings and coordinate the safe transport of used instrumentation to the decontamination unit.

Job Requirements

• Certification: National Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA or NCCT is preferred but not required.

• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of recent, independent scrubbing experience in a high-volume inpatient hospital or acute surgical environment.

• Clinical Knowledge: Versatility across general surgical platforms (e.g., Ortho, General, GYN, Neuro). Flexibility to accommodate facility on-call rotations if required.

• Life Support: Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
