Deputy Chief: Investigate Law Enforcement Misconduct (3917)

Qualifications: Candidates should have at least nine (9) years of complex civil litigation or criminal law experience, preferably including matters relating to civil rights or law enforcement misconduct. Prior experience managing/supervising teams of attorneys and supporting staff is preferred. Effective interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Excellent analytic, research, writing, editing, and oral advocacy skills. Candidates must demonstrate strategic vision, strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to lead and support colleagues. Candidates should be familiar with state and federal law governing law enforcement conduct. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic office. Experience and interest in community outreach and developing relationships that support the bureau’s work. A demonstrated commitment to public service. Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York state and be admitted to practice law in New York state. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States.
