Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: Temporary Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2 years in behavioral health and pediatric experience License: State Nursing License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - 2 years of behavioral health experience - Pediatric experience Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for patient care. Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. RNs show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program and organization. Assesses patients' care needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassesses the plan of care according to the patients' care needs. In collaboration with the physician, provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups. Assists in the teaching of patients and families, and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates patients and families/significant others in discharge and after-care planning needs. Provides a safe and secure environment for patients and staff in both individual and group settings. Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors and reports to the physician any potential risk to patients' safety that could lead to an adverse outcome. Creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards, maintaining professionalism, and initiating and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and external customers. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse patient populations. Identifies specific patient needs and implements patient-centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Gives input into processes for improvement. Utilizes and promotes careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff. May be indirectly responsible for oversight of medication and physical health activities in a program. May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. Responsible for role modeling the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image that is projected in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In community residential settings, required to support and promote a recovery-focused environment and patient-centered approach within the program. Commitment to demonstrating the model of care in hospital and residential areas. Responsible for upholding the mission through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and professional excellence. Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required training. Performs other duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
