Research Lead Technician

Job Title: Research Lead Technician Department: EHE | Educational Studies Administration This temporary, part-time, 5 hours per week Research Lead Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting with the preparation, execution, and monitoring of HRV Biofeedback Tests and related diagnostic procedures in the OSU Stress Management and Resiliency Training Lab (SMART Lab). This role supports the delivery of safe, accurate, and efficient testing for students and faculty, primarily to evaluate heart rate variability and overall autonomic function. SMART LAB OPERATIONS Test Preparation: Set up laboratory equipment, supplies, and materials ahead of scheduled HRV Biofeedback tests for students and faculty. Student and Faculty Interaction: Welcome, inform, and prepare students and faculty for HRV Biofeedback testing. Test Administration: Assist in conducting and monitoring HRV Biofeedback Tests under supervision; observe responses and ensure safety for students and faculty throughout the procedure. Equipment Operation: Operate and calibrate HRV machines, biofeedback devices, blood pressure monitors, and other diagnostic tools; ensure all equipment is functioning properly and maintained. Data Collection: Accurately document test results, observations, and responses; assist in generating reports for review. Safety and Compliance: Follow infection control, privacy, and laboratory safety protocols; respond promptly to any emergencies during testing. Collaboration: Work closely with Faculty and other Lab technicians to ensure quality service and reliable diagnostic outcomes for students and faculty. Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments, maintain laboratory records, and manage supply inventory. Research Support: Support Faculty in the development of a large research grant application. Required Experience 5 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED. 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree. 1 year of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree. Ability to operate PC computer mediated HRV software. Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively within a team and remain calm when working with students and faculty. Desired Experience Doctoral level student preferred. Experience in the OSU Stress and Resiliency Training Lab (SMART Lab) or a similar clinical lab environment is desirable. The Target Hiring Range for this position is $22.93/hr - $29.95/hr Location: Physical Activity and Education Services - PAES (0245) Position Type: Temporary (Fixed Term) Scheduled Hours: 5 Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
