Precision Metal Forming Technician Location: Newport News, VA Employment Type: Full-Time Available Shifts: 1st Shift and 3rd Shift Compensation: Starting at $18.00/hour+ (higher compensation available based on experience and technical skills) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Precision Metal Forming Technician to join a growing sheet metal fabrication operation. This position is responsible for producing high-quality formed metal components through the setup, programming, adjustment, and operation of CNC-controlled press brake equipment. The ideal candidate possesses strong fabrication knowledge, experience working with multiple material types, and the ability to maintain tight tolerances while meeting production schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. \n Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC press brake machinery, including selecting tooling, loading programs, and configuring production settings Prepare equipment for fabrication runs involving light-gauge sheet metal bending and forming Interpret blueprints, bend sequences, work instructions, and material specifications to ensure production accuracy Inspect parts throughout production using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers Troubleshoot forming issues including spring back, tooling wear, alignment concerns, and material inconsistencies Modify machine settings and tooling configurations to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality Perform routine machine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on equipment and tooling Maintain accurate production records including setup details, material usage, and completed quantities Follow established workplace safety procedures and maintain an organized work environment Work independently while making informed decisions related to machine setup and fabrication processes Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience operating CNC press brake machinery Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications Experience working with galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials Proficient with precision measurement tools including calipers and micrometers Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Solid math and measurement skills related to fabrication work Ability to lift between 50–75 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks including standing, bending, and squatting for extended periods Comfortable working in varying industrial temperature conditions Preferred Experience Familiarity with graphical CNC control interfaces Experience with manual press brake equipment Strong organizational skills and situational awareness in a production setting Equipment Utilized Amada HG1003 ATC Press Brake (100 Metric Ton, 3 Meter) Amada HG1303-M30 Press Brake (143 Ton, 10') Amada HD 1003 ATC Press Brake Amada HDS-8025 NT CNC Press Brake \n
