This position personally represents the school and district during all interactions in a positive and constructive way while focused upon student engagement, student achievement and school culture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning. 2. Communicate effectively with students and staff. 3. Help Principal develop, maintain and use information systems to maintain records to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators. 4. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. 5. Demonstrate awareness of school community needs and initiate activities to meet those. 6. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. 7. Provide guidance in the implementation of state and district level mandates pertaining to curriculum instruction and assessment. 8. Provide and develop appropriate professional development activities for curriculum instructional practices, assessment strategies working with the leadership team. 9. Respond professionally and in a timely manner to the needs and concerns of parents, students, faculty and Community. 10. Supervise and evaluate staff assigned by the building Principal. 11. May perform the functions of Principal in his/her absence. 12. Responsible for managing state and district mandated testing. 13. Creating collaborative efforts that include the principal, counselors, teachers, parents and students to develop solution that meet the learning needs of all students. 14. Coordinating the gathering and dissemination of relevant data to faculty and staff to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current curriculum, instruction and assessment. 15. Develop a master schedule with input from the leadership team and guidance counselors. 16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/Superintendent. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Prepare and submit reports to the Principal relating to the progress and accomplishments of the educational process and its alignment to state and national assessments. 2. Assist in the development of school level budgets and expenditures of funds to meet the needs of the educational goals. 3. Lead, provide and data in meetings with faculty, staff and the community. 4. Remain current in the profession. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Current knowledge of program planning, curriculum development, Common Core Standards and Instruction programs as well as research trends and best practices regarding instruction, curriculum development and assessment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with faculty, students, parents and community organization. Strong work ethic and understanding of the need to work beyond the regular work hours. Strong computer skills to develop and effective presentation to the faculty, parent and School Committee regarding the effectiveness or changes related to curriculum, instruction based assessment and able to maintain the master schedule. Create a culture of collaboration with the leadership team, staff, students and parents. Ability to think critically, problem solve and manage conflict. Work cooperatively with the Principal and the Superintendent. Record of success in leading adults, labor relations and supervisory experience preferred. Must have active listening and decision-making skills. Must be highly motivated and enthusiastic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and proficiently in English both orally and in writing using proper grammar and vocabulary. Must be proficient in technology. DESIRED PROFILE OF THE CANDIDATE FOR THIS POSITION 1. Proven record of leadership success. 2. Successful experience at secondary level working with diverse populations. 3. Creative, innovative and student centered. 4. Minimum of ten (10) years teaching experience preferred. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution required. Must possess a valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Building Level Administrator Certification Kindergarten-Grade 12. Must have ten (10) years of teaching experience.
