Technical Project Manager Detroit, MI Hybrid role $40 - $50/hr ABOUT THE ROLE Our financial client is seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of strategic finance technology initiatives in a hybrid role based in Detroit, MI. This position is responsible for driving high-impact projects such as enterprise API platform expansion, Workday Finance integrations, Master Data Management solutions, and cloud-native applications on AWS. As a bridge between engineering teams, business stakeholders, compliance partners, and leadership, you will ensure the successful execution of highly visible technology projects. The ideal candidate combines strong project and product delivery experience with a solid technical foundation, enabling effective management of backlogs, execution of project roadmaps, navigation of governance requirements, and facilitation of technical decision-making. You will play a key role in aligning technology initiatives with business objectives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence across distributed teams. WHAT YOU'LL DO Drive end-to-end delivery of multiple technology initiatives supporting Finance and Corporate Technology platforms Partner closely with engineering leads, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to execute project roadmaps Manage project schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and resource coordination Facilitate planning sessions, delivery reviews, backlog refinement, and status reporting Track project progress and communicate updates to leadership and key stakeholders Manage and optimize Jira boards, workflows, and reporting Work within a Kanban delivery model to prioritize work and align engineering efforts with business objectives Drive backlog management, work intake, capacity planning, and prioritization activities Ensure teams remain focused on strategic initiatives and delivery commitments Partner with development teams building cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS, Python, REST APIs, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, PostgreSQL, and modern UI frameworks (React/Next.js) Develop sufficient technical understanding to facilitate discussions around architecture, integrations, scalability, security, and deployment readiness Collaborate with technical leads to remove delivery obstacles and improve execution efficiency Translate technical concepts into business-friendly communications for stakeholders Partner with Business Line Risk, Compliance, Audit, and Governance teams throughout project lifecycles Ensure projects align with enterprise standards, controls, and regulatory requirements Coordinate documentation, approvals, risk assessments, testing evidence, and audit deliverables Identify risks, issues, and dependencies early and drive mitigation plans Coordinate testing activities across development, QA, business stakeholders, and vendor teams Track testing readiness, defect resolution, and release dependencies Ensure successful deployment planning, production readiness, and operational handoff Support operational handoff and post-release monitoring activities Serve as a primary point of coordination between technology teams, finance stakeholders, and leadership Build strong relationships across onshore and offshore teams Facilitate cross-functional communication to ensure alignment and timely decision-making Present project updates, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders WHAT YOU BRING 4+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager, Technical Delivery Manager, Program Manager, Scrum Master, or similar delivery leadership role Experience delivering enterprise software or cloud-based technology solutions Strong experience managing delivery through Jira Background supporting Agile, Kanban, or hybrid delivery methodologies Experience managing large-scale technology initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and teams Exposure to cloud-native environments and modern software development practices Experience supporting compliance, governance, risk management, audit, or regulatory activities within financial services or other highly regulated industries Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to balance tactical execution with strategic planning Experience supporting Workday Finance implementations or integrations (preferred) Understanding of API platforms, integration frameworks, and microservices architectures (preferred) Familiarity with AWS, Python, Terraform, CI/CD Pipelines, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, React, and Next.js (preferred) Experience supporting Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives (preferred) Financial services industry experience (preferred) Experience working with distributed onshore and offshore development teams (preferred) Familiarity with AI-assisted software delivery tools such as Claude (preferred) WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU (IF ELIGIBLE) Medical, Dental, & Vision Plans Relationship-driven process to find your best fit 6 Paid Holidays Regular meetings to ensure quality in your engagement Competitive medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Dependent Care FSA, and supplemental coverage options 401k plan with company match and full vesting after eligibility Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with services like virtual counseling, financial services, legal services, and life coaching ABOUT US At Brooksource, relationships are the foundation of everything we do.
