Charge RN PreAdmission Testing

Charge Registered Nurse PAT – Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Trophy Club This position involves providing pre-admission testing services and direct RN care in a dynamic surgical support setting. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, Supervisor and Director, document patient history and current medications, perform pre-admission diagnostic testing as ordered, and provide pre-operative instruction and teaching. Implement physician orders and communicate pertinent patient information with the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. Perform direct patient care within the scope of RN practice in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients based on individual needs and physician’s orders. Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations. Identify educational needs, implement and evaluate learning, and document patient/family education. Respond to patients presenting with healthcare needs and perform MSE following policies and procedures for follow-up. Follow all documentation policies. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; BSN preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current Texas RN License; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire. Experience: Minimum two (2) years’ experience as an RN in a clinical setting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates the ability to assess patients’ psychosocial, educational and physical needs across age groups; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong assessment and interview skills; good organizational habits; ability to adapt quickly to change; solid understanding of surgical procedures and management of surgical patients; prioritization and workload organization; teaching skills; experience with Electronic Health Records.
