MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist in providing speech and language therapy services to students with communication disorders. Implement therapy activities as directed, maintain accurate student records and documentation, assist with screenings and assessments, prepare instructional materials, collaborate with teachers and staff to support student communication goals, and communicate with families as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology. Must hold or meet the minimum requirements for certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA). Employment is contingent upon all required credentials being on file with the Moscow School District.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous successful experience working with children or students with communication disorders in a school or clinical setting. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff. Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills. Rate your ability to assist the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist with speech and language screenings, assessments, and therapy activities. Rate your ability to implement individualized speech and language therapy activities with students under the direction of a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist. Rate your ability to organize, maintain, and complete accurate student records, therapy documentation, and other required paperwork in a timely manner. Rate your proficiency using computers and technology for documentation, communication, scheduling, and record keeping. Rate your ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary educational team. Rate your ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, and community members. Rate your ability to prepare and organize instructional materials and therapy resources to support student learning and communication goals. Rate your ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information in accordance with district policies and applicable laws. Rate your ability to work independently while following the direction and guidance of a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist. General Questions Do you currently hold, or are you eligible to obtain, the required Idaho Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license or certification for this position? Please list your Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license or certification information, including the state in which it was issued, the original issue date (month/year), and the expiration date. If you hold additional related licenses or certifications, please include those as well. If you have less than one year of experience as an SLPA, please describe any clinical practicum, internship, or supervised fieldwork you completed as part of your education or certification requirements. Describe your approach to supporting positive student behavior during therapy sessions. How do you encourage student engagement and maintain a positive learning environment? Describe how you collect, document, and use student performance data to support therapy goals and communicate progress with your supervising Speech-Language Pathologist. Describe any experiences that have prepared you to be an effective Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in a school setting, including: Specialized training, workshops, certifications, or professional development related to speech-language services. Employment or volunteer experiences working with children, individuals with disabilities, or in educational, healthcare, or related settings that have contributed to your skills. Describe your experience working collaboratively with Speech-Language Pathologists, teachers, paraprofessionals, families, and other members of a multidisciplinary team to support student success. AUTHORIZATION NOTICE on Idaho Code 33-1210 RELEASE OF INFORMATION ON PAST JOB PERFORMANCE Idaho Code 33-1210 requires all Idaho School District employers to obtain past school district employer performance information regarding an individual they are considering for hire, with regard to any position at an Idaho Public School District. The school district, or an employee acting on behalf of the school district who in good faith discloses information under this section either in writing, printed material, electronic materials or orally is immune from civil liability for the disclosure. An Employer is presumed to be acting in good faith at the time of the disclosure under this section unless the evidence establishes one (1) or more of the following: (a) that the employer knew the information disclosed was false or misleading; (b) that the employer disclosed the information with reckless disregard for the truth; (c) that the disclosure was specifically prohibited by a state or federal statute.(5) A hiring district shall request from the office of the superintendent of public instruction verification of certification status, any past or pending violations of the professional code of ethics, and information relating to job performance, as established by the provisions of subsection (11) of this section, if any, for applicants for certificated employment.(6) A school district shall not hire an applicant who does not sign a statement.(8) Information received pursuant to this section shall be used by a school district only for the purpose of evaluating an applicant's qualifications for employment in the position for which he or she has applied. Except as otherwise provided by law, a board member or employee of a school district shall not disclose the information to any person, other than the applicant, who is not directly involved in the process of evaluating the applicant's qualifications for employment. A person who violates the provisions of this subsection may be civilly liable for damages caused by such violation.
