Assistant Nurse Manager - Telemetry

Hospital Overview Barnes‑Jewish St. Peters Hospital serves families in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren counties. The 102‑bed community hospital offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including the Siteman Cancer Center, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center, and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. It is an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Level II stroke certification and houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery, and pulmonology. Additional outpatient services include physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio‑pulmonary rehabilitation. Role Purpose The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative support to Nurse Managers and direct reports, coordinating patient care, managing performance of direct reports, handling equipment purchasing/management, and compiling statistical data. Responsibilities Manage individuals: hire, train, assign work, evaluate performance, and conduct professional development plans. Ensure group productivity supports departmental operational goals. Participate in staffing, revenue, and expense budget development and ensure adherence to budget goals. Respond to business changes affecting budget targets. Provide and oversee patient care based on planned interventions that meet age and developmental needs; document per policy. Create and implement collaborative care plans derived from assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Review staff hours versus scheduled hours and determine appropriate disposition for variations. Perform and approve daily payroll updates, reconcile time cards, track bonuses, and approve coding. Prepare, coordinate, and execute staff communications; produce huddle agendas and lead meetings. Determine staffing needs, assign nursing duties, and allocate overtime. Recommend effective annual increases. Interview candidates for open positions, conduct performance reviews, issue corrective actions, and track disciplinary compliance. Maintain overall staff productivity and departmental operational excellence. Conduct performance evaluations and recommend improvements when needed.
