Avionics Aircraft Mechanic
PGS Worldwide is seeking an Avionics Aircraft Mechanic in Lake Charles, LA for an onsite contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Avionics Aircraft Mechanic will support aircraft maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection on military aircraft. This is a Service Contract Act position supporting a U.S. Navy program. The role requires strong avionics aircraft experience, the ability to read technical data and schematics, and hands-on experience with aircraft mechanical, electrical, structural, and wiring systems.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 10+ years of relevant aircraft avionics experience.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing aircraft mechanical components.
- Experience adjusting, repairing, or replacing aircraft electrical wiring systems and accessories.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering data, technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and written instructions.
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
- Experience using aircraft tools and test equipment, including torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.
- Experience using manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, and heat shrink guns.
- Ability to assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors, and electrical components.
- Ability to work in approved environments during specified work hours.
- Ability to wear a respirator or other safety gear.
- Ability to work around various physical conditions, including heights and closed spaces.
Preferred Skills
- A&P License.
- E-6B/707 experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
What You'll Do
- Maintain, repair, inspect, and modify aircraft structures, systems, components, and engines.
- Perform preflight, thru-flight, post-flight, periodic, phase, and other scheduled inspections.
- Troubleshoot aircraft systems and restore equipment condition and operation.
- Maintain aircraft logs and records.
- Provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians during maintenance and modification work.
Work Schedule / Shift
- Monday-Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:42 pm, with potential overtime.
- Monday-Thursday, 4:00 pm - 2:42 am, with potential overtime.
- Thursday-Sunday, 6:00 am - 4:42 pm, with potential overtime.
- Thursday-Sunday - 4:00 pm - 2:42 am, potential for overtime.
Pay
$42.04 per hour
