Direct Service Provider (DSP) Responsibilities

Shirley’s Compassionate Care LLC
Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD)

Position Summary

The Direct Service Provider (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals served through the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). DSPs assist consumers in achieving their goals, maintaining independence, and participating safely in their homes and communities while following all APD regulations and company policies.

Essential Responsibilities

Companion Services

• Provide supervision and companionship in the home and community.
• Encourage meaningful social interaction and community participation.
• Accompany consumers to community outings, recreational activities, and appointments as authorized
• Community Integration
• Support consumers in accessing community resources.
• Encourage participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.
• Promote inclusion while respecting each consumer’s choices and preferences.

Health and Safety

• Observe and report changes in the consumer’s physical, emotional, or behavioral condition immediately.
• Provide medication reminders only, unless otherwise authorized by law and agency policy.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment.
• Follow all emergency procedures and incident reporting requirements.
