Special Events Staff

Job Summary Voluntary on‑call position in Catering, Concessions, and Special Events. Hours and schedules are determined by events; the employee may refuse shifts for any reason. This role offers no guaranteed hours. Staff who perform duties requiring specific skills and certification may receive additional pay up to $19.00 per hour or a percentage of sales for the event if that percentage exceeds their base hourly rate. Essential duties include preparing and serving food, reading and writing, operating food service equipment and POS systems, and working in irritating and adverse temperature environments while following oral and written instructions and lifting, transporting, and stocking food and supplies. Physical Demands Must be able to lift 40 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Must stand, walk, and work on feet for long periods, and operate in extreme weather conditions ranging from 15 below zero to 90 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods. Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of food items: slicing, chopping, grating, cleaning, mixing, etc. Serve food following established portion control standards. Maintain operational readiness of facilities and equipment; set up counters, steam tables, serving lines, and utensils. Uphold safe and sanitary conditions by cleaning facilities, washing and sanitizing equipment, and storing pots, pans, and utensils. Assist with stocking and storing food service items; maintain records of daily operations, food production, consumption, and inventory. Operate a variety of kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, toasters, fryers, mixers, etc. Qualifications Ability to assist in preparing and serving food, read and write, perform basic arithmetic, operate food service equipment, and use kitchen utensils. Capacity to work in adverse temperature environments and follow oral and written instructions. Physical ability to lift, transport, and stock food service supplies, materials, and equipment. Preferred: Ability to provide friendly and efficient service to guests. Licenses/Certifications Optional: TIPS Certification and/or ServSafe Certification.
