Behavioral Health Technician - Part Time Rotating Evening Schedule $20/hr!

Overview CRi is a well-known non-profit organization with operations in Northern VA, Richmond VA, and Maryland, dedicated to enabling individuals with disabilities to live as independently as possible. We are opening a new Forensic Mental Health program in our Richmond location and are hiring PART-TIME Behavioral Health Technicians. The Behavioral Health Technician in our Mental Health Forensic Group Home provides specialized care and support for individuals with mental health disorders within a forensic setting. Working with a multidisciplinary team, the Technician ensures the well-being, safety, and rehabilitation of individuals who may have a history with the criminal justice system. Part-time evening rotating schedules are available in the following zip codes: 23225 and 23236. Responsibilities Provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health disorders in a compassionate and therapeutic manner. Implement and monitor treatment plans as outlined by the clinical team, ensuring individualized needs are met. Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to manage challenging behaviors. Collaborate with the clinical team to assess and address behavioral concerns, promoting a therapeutic and supportive environment. Administer prescribed medications as per established protocols, ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedules; monitor and document responses and report any side effects to nursing/medical staff. Assist in facilitating therapeutic group activities, counseling sessions, and skill-building exercises; collaborate with mental health professionals to implement evidence-based interventions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes; report significant changes or incidents promptly to supervisory staff. Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other team members to ensure coordinated care; participate in team meetings and training sessions. Implement safety protocols and conduct regular facility checks to identify and address safety hazards. Respond effectively to emergencies and crises following established protocols to ensure safety of individuals and staff. Requirements Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in psychiatric technology or related field is preferred. Experience working in mental health, forensic, or similar settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, therapeutic techniques, and behavioral management strategies. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Physical Demands Requires light and/or heavy lifting, repetitive bending, good sight and hearing, and the ability to move with ease. Working Environment Residential setting, indoor and outdoor program sites, and various community locations. Supervision None.
