Tablet Machine Operator

Set up and operate machines to press/manufacture and coat tablets.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean tablet machines, related equipment, and work areas using water, alcohol, and other cleaning aids after each batch, ensuring the area is sanitary.
• Report any sanitation issues to the supervisor and notify Quality Control for Hygenia swabs after each cleaning.
• Read work orders/formulas and Master Manufacturing Records to determine production specifications.
• Measure and mix powders for tablet machine processing.
• Scoop specified mixtures into machine sections prior to starting.
• Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, amounts, dimensions, and material flows to meet product specifications.
• Measure arbors and dies to match specified tablet sizes.
• Perform test runs to ensure proper equipment setup.
• Examine, measure, weigh, or test sample tablets for conformance to specifications.
• Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery.
• Count and record finished and rejected items.
• Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of tablets.
• Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect tablets, verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement.
• Inspect and remove defective tablets.
• Stop or reset machines during malfunctions, clear jams, and report issues to the supervisor.
• Record and maintain production data such as meter readings and tablet quantities.
• Clean storage containers/racks for finished tablet storage.
• Adjust coating pans to achieve desired coating conditions.
• Perform visual inspections to determine coating quality.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of quality control and operational procedures.
• Transfer completed tablets to drying or storage areas using handcarts or storage containers.
• Ensure completed tablets are covered in pans/storage containers at all times.
• Meet and exceed production goals and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all rules and regulations in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
• Complete all duties within the required time frame.
• Follow all SOPs, GMPs, Safety Rules, and State and Federal Health Guidelines as required.
• Comply with all Plant, State, and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations.
• Communicate with supervisors as necessary to complete job requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, one to two years related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and manufacturing techniques preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities.
• Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of safety requirements and cautions.
• Ability to perform necessary physical labor.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the primary workplace language.
• Bilingual skills and forklift certification are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and stair climbing.
• Ability to reach, twist, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to grasp, use fingers and hands to push buttons and operate machinery.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and perform basic calculations.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a warehouse with varying temperatures and moderate to high noise levels.
• Common protective or safety gear, such as gloves, face masks, hairnets, and uniforms, are required.
• Exposure to small particles, odors, and allergens.
