General Definition
This is fire paramedic work on a rotating or assigned shift supervising fire paramedics engaged in emergency medical assistance work. Supervising, training and evaluating fire paramedics and rescue personnel is of major significance to the work. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level officer. An employee in this class has responsibility for all emergency medical work on a fireground. Work is performed in only partially controlled weather conditions and involves moderate physical effort.

Only a departmental promotional eligible list for the Philadelphia Fire Department will be established as a result of this examination.
Candidates who pass the exam and are placed on the civil service list will be retained on the list for a minimum of one year and a maximum of two years after the establishment of the Eligible List.
PREFERENCE FOR PHILADELPHIA RESIDENTS Candidates who have maintained a bona fide residence in Philadelphia for at least one year prior to the date of the civil service examination shall have priority over all other persons receiving an identical test score. If you have maintained a bona fide residence in Philadelphia for at least one year immediately preceding the exam date listed on this announcement, you are eligible to claim residency preference.
