Security Officer

Department/Unit: Security | Work Shift: Night (United States of America) | Salary Range: $49,763.00 - $69,668.00 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Upholds AMC standards in providing exceptional service to all “customers”. Exhibits a professional demeanor and ensures effective communication (verbal and written) at all times. Patrols throughout assigned zones/posts and regularly engages people, offering assistance to visitors and employees. Responds to all assigned incidents promptly, thoroughly investigates, and properly documents information. Identifies issues requiring attention (facility problems, malfunctions, security concerns) and takes appropriate action, notifying supervision. Ensures compliance with AMC policies and The Joint Commission standards, including no smoking, parking, ID card display/use. Secures access points, doors, offices, and other areas; controls facility access and documents referrals. Handles traffic direction and control during accidents, construction, or special details. Uses verbal de‑escalation techniques to manage conflicts. Restrains individuals who pose a safety risk, collaborating with medical staff when needed. Obtains information from employees involved in misconduct or criminal activity. Performs escorts, fire watches, dispatcher functions, and other tasks as assigned. Communicates all significant incidents to Security Administration and performs additional duties as directed. Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required). 1–3 years of experience in a hospital environment (preferred). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Good judgment, emotional control, objectivity, and sound decision‑making skills. Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure in emergency situations. Effective computer knowledge and report‑writing skills. Capacity to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation. NYS security guard registration (required upon hire). Valid driver’s license in the state (required upon hire). Will accept equivalent combination of relevant education and experience as appropriate.
