The Assistant Principal will be responsible for evaluating teachers and technical programs and overseeing a highly successful at‑risk program. The successful candidate will handle student‑related issues including discipline, attendance, safety, crisis management, assemblies, and faculty support in the classroom and school management. Collaboration with a strong administrative team is essential. Cape Cod Tech is a public vocational high school with approximately 700 students and 15 vocational programs. The school offers technical blocks, academic blocks, AP courses, and an evening adult education program. Facilities opened in 2020. Responsibilities Supervises all academic and vocational teachers assigned. Evaluates personnel. Oversees all At‑Risk Programs. Administers laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to student behavior management. Administers laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to student attendance. Participates in Safety and Security Committee, developing agendas for school committee discussion. Works closely with the Curriculum Supervisor to ensure adherence to Common Core Assessment Standards and to ensure projects and activities are designed to master standards. Ensures adherence to Chapter 74 regulations and the MA Vocational Frameworks. Evaluates the performance of individual vocational programs and the academics as a whole. Works closely with the Guidance Chair to ensure students are properly placed. Meets weekly with the guidance department to coordinate efforts and collaboration. Develops the Student Handbook and presents documents for School Committee approval. Supervises cafeteria and bus circle/parking lots. Initiates assemblies on drug education, anti‑violence activities, and cultural/educational messages. Administers Underclass Awards Day and assists the Principal with graduation meetings, senior banquet, etc. Identifies and supports faculty who have difficulties with student control and meets with them regularly to improve discipline. Develops professional development to help teachers with student behavior management. Develops Student and Faculty Handbooks. Responsible for the opening and closing of school regarding Early Release Sign Outs, Senior Sign Outs, and Teachers’ last day. Improves and makes recommendations for school security. Oversees Attendance for Success Academy (2027) and Summer School. Administers all fire drills or lockdown drills. Supervises Attendance Secretary and A.P.’s Secretary. Reviews and recommends budgets. Ensures adherence to district and state purchasing procedures. All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Principal. Qualifications Master’s degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required. Distinguished record in education and required licensure per D.E.S.E. regulations.
