Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse Location: Not specified. This position involves providing direct patient care within a large emergency department environment. The role emphasizes utilizing the nursing process to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs during night shifts.

Job Details

• Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
• Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
• Initiates, utilizes, and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
• Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and documents according to policy.
• Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care.
• Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses and non-licensed assistive personnel.
• Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
• Selected candidates must successfully pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test. Candidates will not be able to start an assignment until they have passed this onsite administered test. Should they fail, candidates will have one opportunity to re-test; a second failure will result in contract cancellation and all applicable fees will be enforced.
• Floating between departments and or local locations within 20 miles is required.
• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, Minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Skills & Experience: Two (2) years current experience in a large emergency department. Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment. Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
• Required Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
• Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required, all through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or the American Red Cross.
• Preferably, candidates may have Epic experience, but training can be provided on-site.
