Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse for an Acute Surgical Unit at a prominent facility in Duluth, Georgia. This fast-paced unit specializes in the care of post-surgical and medical-surgical patients, managing a high volume of admissions, discharges, and transfers daily.

The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, providing comprehensive nursing care to patients admitted from the Emergency Department, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), or direct admissions. An Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) nurse is on staff to support efficient patient flow and optimize unit operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a diverse population of acute surgical and medical-surgical patients.
• Manage a high volume of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers efficiently and safely.
• Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including the ADT nurse, to ensure seamless patient transitions and optimal unit flow.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement nursing interventions.
• Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and document all aspects of patient care accurately.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and health maintenance.
• Respond to emergent situations and provide critical care as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience within an Acute Surgical or Medical-Surgical specialty.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights (NOC)
• Hours: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Days per Week: 3 days per week; schedule varies and may include weekend rotations.

• Holiday Requirements: Must work two (2) major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and one (1) minor holiday (The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve).

Licensing Requirements

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
