  • Assist with the preparation and updating of construction documents for new construction, renovation, and facility improvement projects.
  • Accurately incorporate engineer markups, redlines, and design changes into Revit models and drawing sets in a timely manner.
  • Help identify and resolve model coordination issues, drawing inconsistencies, and constructability concerns to support successful project delivery.
  • Maintain organized project files, BIM standards, naming conventions, and documentation quality throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Support project teams during internal reviews, coordination meetings, and document submissions by providing updated drawings and models.
  • Participate in quality control efforts to ensure all deliverables are complete, accurate, and aligned with project objectives and client expectations.
  • Assist in developing and refining structural BIM standards, families, templates, and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency across projects.

Essential Skills

  • At least 4 years of recent, strong experience using Revit in a professional or academic setting.
  • Hands-on design experience in structural, architectural, MEP, or vertical construction/facilities-related fields.

  • Ability to produce structural drawings, plans, sections, details, schedules, and sheets that meet project and company standards.
  • Experience coordinating with structural engineers, architects, and MEP teams to maintain consistency across project documents.
  • Capability to interpret and accurately apply engineer markups, redlines, and design changes within Revit models and drawing sets.
  • Familiarity with BIM processes and standards, including file organization and naming conventions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation quality and completeness.
  • Ability to identify and help resolve coordination issues, drawing inconsistencies, and constructability concerns.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary project teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with structural design and structural engineering concepts.
  • Exposure to structural analysis workflows and tools.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD in addition to Revit for drafting and design tasks.
  • Understanding of BIM methodologies and best practices for building projects.
  • Experience working on construction documents for new-build and renovation projects.
  • Experience in industrial, education, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, commercial, agriculture, food and beverage, or utilities projects is beneficial.
  • Interest in contributing to the development of BIM standards, families, templates, and workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, typically ranging from 1 to 5 projects per week based on size and scope.

Work Environment

The role is based within an engineering firm of approximately 40 team members across structural, site development, landscape architecture, and architecture disciplines. The firm focuses primarily on structural engineering for industrial and education projects, with additional work in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, commercial, agriculture, food and beverage, and utilities. Projects include both new-build and renovation work, ranging from large multi-million-dollar facilities to smaller upgrades such as platform installations. The office has a standard consulting engineering environment with cubicles and private offices, supporting a professional, team-oriented atmosphere. The position currently operates on a traditional office-based schedule sitting out of Indianapolis, with the potential for hybrid work in the future and remote options for more tenured team members.
